I like it better when I read it the first time, when it was called Legends of the Batman, by Daniel Dwyer, right here on this site.
Seriously, though, this was all style over substance.

Spoilers then...
There was just nothing there you know what I mean? We got a splash page of Vikki changing but hardly any Batman/Bruce Wayne. Batman's been keeping an eye on Dick? Why? Then the kid gets his parents popped off right in front of him, kidnapped by cops, and the first thing Batman does is pick him up by his shirt and tell him he's "been drafted into a war." It was all just weak and forced.

The jury's still out on this one for me... I'll read the first arc. If it's still blows, it's out the door. Anyone else annoted by the repetetive sentences? I know it was done to prove points... but it was done over & over & over again.
Vicky Vale was drawn superbly though! Award for best composition of a mediocre character goes to Jim Lee for that one!

I'm gonna give this series a chance because I generally like Frank Miller's work on Batman, but I have to admit it was nothing at all like what I expected.

i didn't think dksa was that bad...it wasn't better than dkr but wasn't terrible...it was decent, although i never read the last issue...i only have the first two...it mighta went down hill after that. i just think its problem was, it was a sequel to something that really shouldn't have had a sequel...

Dark Knight Strikes Again wasn't bad, but like DKoS said it's a sequel to a story that didn't require a sequel. Like the original Matrix, there was opening for a sequel, but it didn't mean it was the best bet. DKSA was also more about the DCU after DKR which focused on Batman's war.

DKSA was a good concept, poorly done. I love Sin City, Batman: Year One, DKR, Daredevil and now i like... i LIKE All Star. It's not as good as it could have been...

well...the matrix is different. it was set up to be a trilogy from the beginning. the first movie was just done in a way that, if it did poorly, they didn't have to do a sequel...but was set up so it could be a trilogy if it did well

I liked it okay. It was a little uneventful though. Interesting that Miller is focusing so much on Robin, but I'll think we'll get to see plenty of Batman as it goes on. This was definately an introductory issue and if I stuck around on Azzarello's Superman for 5 issues waiting for it to pick up, I'll certainly hang around on this title for awhile to give Miller the benefit of the doubt. We know he capable of good Batman stories, well with the exception of 'Dark Knight Strikes Back' but don't even get me started on that one.
Personally, I'm more excited about the Morrison/Quitely SUPERMAN because you know that's going to rock.
